The Netgate ALIX series of rackmount firewalls provide the performance and flexibility of pfSense on a fully-featured AMD platform in a convenient, standard form factor for professional network administrators. The Netgate firewalls are ideally suited for securing small- and medium-sized networks that require superior security, flexibility and performance.
This is a high quality 19" 1U rack mount system is designed to provide a silent, ultra-reliable and inexpensive platform for your advanced Firewall/VPN router or Voice over IP (VoIP) requirements.
The platform features two ALIX boards with a total of 6 RJ-45 Ethernet channels (VIA VT6105M), 2 miniPCI card slots, 2 serial ports, and 4 USB 2.0 ports with dual internal power supplies.
pfSense is a free, open source customized distribution of NanoBSD / FreeBSD designed for use as a firewall and router. pfSense is pre-loaded on your Netgate rack system to provide an out-of-the-box Firewall/IPSec/VPN Router. You'll be up and running in minutes! This next generation pfSense stateful firewall for embedded applications supports:
- In place upgrades. No need to disassemble your system in order to upgrade, patch or add packages to your CF.
- Multiple version support. Two partitions on the CF, each with their own separate pfSense install means you can test upgrades and rollback without impacting your production environment.
- Ports and package support. FreeBSD packages that are suitable for an embedded platform can be installed and used.
