I picked up the SG-2400 for our home to replace the ISP provided router, which was put into bridge mode upon arrival of the SG-2440. Upon arrival i was surprised the unit was so small, i thought it would have been slightly bigger.

Initial setup was smooth and the console port worked as described. I did have to "Google" how to get connected with Putty which is something they could have added as provided documentation in the box. But there is enough online documentation that is most likely isn't necessary.

I have a 250/250 fiber connection which this unit handles with ease. Absolutely no problems there. Initial tests prove that this unit can push 1Gbps across the interfaces without any problems. Even when activating snort on a specific interface and re-running the tests it still manages to push 1Gbps without interrupting connectivity or throughput

I'm very happy with my purchase and will buy from PFsense/Netgate again when the need arrises

We've reviewed other products including Untangle and Meraki and PFSense appliances still win.  

If you want to avoid the trending Pay Annual Maintenance Drain that is a trend with American technology companies today and still want an enterprise grade device,  the SG-2440 is for you.

A high performance security appliance requires a product that delivers more.  Retail purchased routers and firewalls are good but lack essential services like:
- Outbound routing configuration
- Intrusion Detection System
- Advanced content caching
- Advanced proxy reporting
- a plugin based architecture.

PFSense has all of these and makes it the defacto standard for any company concerned with security and needing more that a retail firewall can deliver.

We only recommend PFSense and the SG-2440

 Wow
This is a very nice product. I used this to replace my Commercial ASUS RT-AC68P router. I have a 75M Down and 3M up Broadband connection. With the ASUS, I was getting 40-50 down and 2.5 to 3M up. With this dandy device, I'm getting consistently 85M down and 5M up. The nice Commercial grade firewall is a bonus. This thing performs as an exceptional router and firewall in one device. The options I have available now are tremendous. I haven't scratched the surface yet with it. Thanks PFSENSE for a great product.

 Simple to configure, power in features
I have always used PfSense but on PCs. It has never let me down as with my specific uses (captive portal and failover). PfSense works just the way you want it to work without much ado. I can simply tell it that please let User X go through link A, let user Y go thru link B, let User Z use all the links and so on. It just obeys and will do exactly that. I bought this appliance coz I needed more runtime from my improvised power backup and also liked the reset feature though I have not tested it. Kudos guys.
